Fiona Tyndall is an Irish traditional and folk artist from County Clare, Ireland, now based in Princeton, New Jersey. Steeped in Irish and Celtic traditions from a young age, she is an acclaimed vocalist, lyricist, bodhrán player and workshop facilitator, blending the Irish language with innovative musical and vocal arrangements that honour tradition while pushing creative boundaries.

Widely praised across Irish and international media, including Irish Music Magazine, The Irish Times, Hot Press, Pure M Magazine, TG4, and Nationwide, Tyndall’s resonant discography has strengthened Irish-American cultural connections and captivated audiences worldwide, from intimate live venues to leading Irish music festivals.

Fiona has performed in Whelans (Dublin), The Cat& Cage (Drumcondra, Dublin), Glór ( Ennis, Co. Clare),  Comhaltas Ceolteorí Éireann Headquarters, Monkstown (Dublin), The Dubliner on the Delaware, USA),  The Fahs Theatre (Princeton, USA), Princeton Public Library (USA) and more, with further upcoming Irish and American performances planned in 2026.

Fiona Tyndall is an Irish traditional and folk artist from County Clare, Ireland, now based between Princeton, New Jersey and Ireland. Steeped in Irish and Celtic musical traditions from a young age, Fiona has been singing the music of her homeland all her life. An acclaimed vocalist, lyricist, bodhrán player, and workshop facilitator, she is known for blending the Irish language with innovative musical and vocal arrangements that honour tradition while pushing creative boundaries.

Over a thirty-year career, Fiona has built a reputation as a deeply expressive performer whose resonant voice and emotional delivery consistently captivate audiences. Her work has been widely praised in Irish and international media, including Irish Music Magazine, The Irish Times, Hot Press, Pure M Magazine, TG4, and Nationwide. From intimate venues to leading Irish music festivals, her performances have strengthened Irish-American cultural connections and moved listeners worldwide.

Fiona’s debut album, Deirin Dé, emerged from her lifelong devotion to traditional Irish music, blending Irish-language songs with fresh and imaginative arrangements. This commitment to both authenticity and innovation has become a defining feature of her artistry. In 2022, she released New Frontiers, a powerful reinterpretation of songs by renowned County Cork singer-songwriter Jimmy MacCarthy. The album showcased Fiona’s unique vocal artistry alongside some of Ireland’s most respected musicians, including Brendan Hayes, Seán Whelan, James Blennerhassett, Tim Edey, and Liam Bradley, receiving praise for its creative vocal and instrumental treatments.

Often described as a voice that “brings audiences to tears,” Fiona cites influences ranging from Joni Mitchell to Karan Casey, Niamh Parsons, and Máiread and Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill. In 2025, she released Éinín agus Ceoil, a collection of traditional Irish songs presented through richly layered, complex vocal and instrumental arrangements, further cementing her place as a distinctive and contemporary interpreter of the tradition.

Beyond performance, Fiona is deeply committed to education and community-building. In 2024, she completed  the I Teach Trad course, a certificate in teaching traditional music and song, founded by Dr.Liz Doherty in conjunction with The Royal Irish Academy of Music. Fiona regularly leads workshops in folk and traditional song. Building on this work, she founded a monthly singing circle for acappella folk and traditional singers, nurturing a vibrant community of performers who now participate confidently in traditional sessions across the region.

Fiona maintains an active live performance schedule throughout New York, New  Jersey, and Pennsylvania, and headlines a popular monthly residency with her band at The Dubliner in New Hope, PA. In addition to vocals, she plays bodhrán and has recently taken up the tin whistle, performing regularly at traditional sessions in venues such as The Dubliner (New Hope, PA), Mitchell’s (Lambertville, NJ), and O’Reilly’s (Sandymount, Dublin).

With a career rooted in tradition yet constantly evolving, Fiona Tyndall continues to bridge past and present, Ireland and America, through music that is deeply personal, culturally resonant, and profoundly moving.
